We didn’t pull our eyes away from Monza for even a second – the fastest circuit on the calendar, where drama and surprises are guaranteed at every turn. It was a complete rollercoaster for the Tifosi in a race defined by a relentless scrap for the podium, where Antonelli truly emerged as the hero of Italy.
The Italian GP was run at a blistering pace. The excitement kicked off right from pole position with a surprise starter in Pierre Gasly, which immediately ignited a duel between the two Ferrari drivers.
Starting third and fourth, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc went wheel-to-wheel from the opening meters. After being squeezed out in the scuffle, Hamilton voiced his frustration over the radio: “He pushed me off!”
Ferrari naturally wanted to taste victory on home turf and give the Tifosi a reason to celebrate, but things went off the rails almost immediately. On lap 3, Leclerc lost control and buried his car into the barriers, leaving the grandstands in absolute tears.
Yet, the magic of Monza delivered until the very last lap. Starting all the way back in 19th position, Kimi Antonelli staged a monumental charge to take the win, becoming the first Italian driver in 60 years to triumph on home soil.
While the Tifosi mourned Ferrari’s heartbreak, they wholeheartedly joined in Antonelli’s historic celebration. Continuing his dominance across iconic tracks, the young phenom kept his title hopes firmly alive, cementing his hero status as Mercedes capped off a magnificent 1-2 finish.
